Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions about Horizons University Online Degree Programs

How do I take my exams?
You will not be taking exams per se, but assignments and a final project instead. This guarantees you the ability to do everything from your home, not needing to travel to our campus and at your own tempo.

Are there any academic hours to be completed on campus?
There is no requirement for online students. However, class attendance is mandatory for our on-campus students.

How much contact do I have with my Professors?
The professor is a private tutor, always available via the Participants section in your Moodle classroom (student portal). You will have at least one required communication exchange per week or module whether it be via email, Skype or another preferred method, however, you may be in touch as often as you feel is necessary. On-campus students meet their professor during classes and are encouraged to keep in touch via email.

When can I enroll?
Online students can enroll any day of the year, and can begin their degree any day of the year. On-campus students can enroll up to a week before the beginning of the Fall and Spring semester.

Do I need any test to verify my English level?
When taking degrees online, you are required to show Horizons University that your English language skills are strong enough to complete a degree online. You must have a TOEFL score of 500PBT/61IBT (or a equivalent score in an equivalent English test). Proof that you have either worked or studied in English is also sufficient.
When taking the Master of Arts in French, or studying on-campus, you are required to prove the same for the French language.

What is the minimum number of courses that can be completed per semester?
Online: Due to Horizons University’s self-paced teaching methodology and rolling enrollments, there are no semesters in the online degree programs. The standard degree program is organized so that you complete 3 to 4 courses in half a year. However, due to the unique methodology of Horizons University, students can complete more or less courses, depending on their availability to study.

What type of grading system does Horizons University use?
Horizons University uses the American system for grading, whereby grades range from an A to an F.

Will I need to come to the university to defend my Dissertation?
The DBA program is completed fully online, therefore you can defend your dissertation over the internet. However, should you wish to come to Paris, this can be organized as well.
